Description | Distributed computing concerns networks of nodes that communicate and cooperate with each other, jointly solve problems and exchange and maintain data in order to achieve a desired, network-wide out- come. This school will feature models, problems, data structures, algorithms, systems and techniques that address fundamental aspects and practical considerations in distributed systems. Particular focus will be given to capacity, coordination, and information propagation in losely connected settings, for instance in mobile or ad-hoc networks, to fundamental protocols for achieving a joint goal or main- taining a common data structure, and to faults and attacks that may prevent the nodes from reaching their common goal, including methods to mitiage their effects.
