Description

There is no doubt that computer science or, better, informatics has changed the way we do business. Thus the business world is definitely worth to be considered as a first class citizen in informatics research. Consequently, we consider business informatics as a scientific discipline targeting information processes and related phenomena in a socio-economical context, including companies, organizations, administrations and society in general. Business informatics research focuses on methodological approaches to design information and communication models, architectures, and systems for the business environment. It builds up on a design oriented approach and, at the same time, must demonstrate its scientific rigor by the use of generally accepted methods and techniques for acquiring knowledge. A key characteristic of business informatics research is that it considers a real-world business context in developing new theories and concepts that enable new practical applications. In this proposed seminar, experts in core domains of Business Informatics, daily working closely with the Industrial world, will share their expertise via pedagogic and analytical overviews of their respective fields, mixed with hands-on examples ranging from Enterprise and Process Modeling to technical modern Information Management strategies.
