|Summary of thesis||
The main objective is to define the role and the requirements of energy storage within defined energy systems compliant with the Swiss Energy Strategy 2050. To this end, the candidate will model energy systems including energy storage at high temporal resolution (≤1hour) and at various geographical scales, i.e. national, regional and local. The expected outputs are Swiss storage models for different objective functions and scales (national, regional and local); and the energy storage potential on different geographical scales within the Swiss Energy Strategy 2050. The successful candidate is expected to participate in the development of an input/output model for energy storage in Switzerland. This project requires strong collaboration with utilities and other SCCERs (including joint SCCER activity on modeling and scenarios).
